5 Simple Things To Help You Be a Healer

By
Although the Christian Science denomination uses the word Christian in its name, many people don’t know it is Bible, Jesus, and prayer based. It is definitely Christian.

Christian Scientists are students of the Bible – Old and New Testaments. Most of them study this book daily, especially the works and words of Jesus. They yearn to emulate Jesus, in some degree, because he said to follow him. They view Jesus as their Way-Shower, their shepherd.

After many years of prayer and study of the Bible, I’ve found 5 simple things that have helped prepare me to be a Christian healer. They might help you too.

Be honest. God gives His power to those who will use it to bless others.  So, He gives His power to those who are honest.  If we want our prayer armed with spiritual power, we must be honest.

Don’t be critical. If we’re critical of anyone, we’re not seeing how God creates them, guides them, and loves them.  If we want to heal we should strive to see everyone, the best we can, as the spiritual image and likeness of God.

Don’t keep score. While we are keeping track of other’s mistakes, we are not arming ourselves to be a healer.  It’s not how someone else is acting but how much of God’s love we are expressing that makes our prayers effective.  Love never keeps score.

Be forgiving. Forgiveness means starting over with love, — wiping the slate clean.  Christ impels and strengthens us to do so.  Let our love be expressed in forgiveness.

Value your moral courage. No matter what we are doing, if we’re doing what is right, doing what is God inspired, our moral courage will keep us safe.

These are my 5.  Now, in your comments, l want to read yours.

    My two cents –

    6. Deal with fear.
    7. Ask, then listen to what God sees & knows about the situation.
    8. Hold on tight to one truth.
    9. Start with God, not the problem.

  2. Jo says:

Put on the “WEDDING GARMENT” of Divine Love.

I really like what was said in the book Mary Baker Eddy Christian Healer,
on page 196, that when she had taken her book Science and Health to a printer be published, the printer “had allowed it to be taken from his possession”. In her deep disappointment, she returned, and there a student needed her assistance in a case that was dying. She “put on her wedding garments at once and healed the case in twenty minutes”.

The wedding garments refer to the Christ-like thought.

  3. Michele says:

    Listen

    Hear

    OBEY

  4. Gordon says:

    1. Always start with gratitude for the things you do have.
    2. If things are tough, hang onto whatever mustard seeds you have and let them grow.
    3. Let go of anger as quickly as you can. Holding onto anger is like drinking a poison and waiting around for the other person to die.
    4. Be persistent in your prayers; do not give up and do not give in.
    5. Reject any suggestion that God is working against you. Believe that God is on your side; He wants you to succeed!

  5. Brooke says:

LOVE YOURSELF. Do not allow any suggestion of self criticism or self loathing to enter your thought. We must behold ourselves as perfect children of God in order to behold others that way. I guess that’s the same as #2, Don’t be critical. It’s just so important to get ourselves out of the way. And if we’re focusing on anything about ourselves that is unlike God, good, then we’re not doing that. Just a thought.

  6. Sharon says:

    1. Pray for yourself every day (put on your armor)
    2. Pray for someone else or a world situation every day.
    3. Don’t try to “fix” anything through prayer (it’s already perfect), destroy the BELIEF of evil.
    4. Be childlike–ready for any new idea.
    5. Be grateful constantly.

    Thanks Keith & ALL,
Wonderful insights & it’s great to have this blog to go to when fuzzy thinking seems to take over. I also like the football analogy…..The quarterback is calm but quick thinking when the blitz is ON…..
May the Force BE with US ALL,
    cc

  8. CC Barnes says:

What do YOU mean by “Be honest”??…..is that honest in telling the client a particular? or Not a liar, telling little stories? or telling only the spiritual side? or have a client tell the truth about the problem (i.e. whether they are better or NOT?)
need a little more clarification as to what YOUR particular meaning is!
    Thanks

[Honesty is a spiritual quality that starts first in God, Truth. It is expressed in our telling others spiritual facts about themselves and the world to bring about healing. This spiritual quality also motivates us to not lie to another about what appears in our ordinary lives. Being honest plugs us into the truth of spiritual being, so to speak. This allows for even more courageous truth telling. --Keith]

  9. Jeanine says:

I love the first sentence in the chapter on Prayer in “Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy:
“The prayer that reforms the sinner and heals the sick is (1)an absolute faith that all things are possible to God, (2)a spiritual understanding of Him, (3) an unselfed love”
And from Misc. Writings, The Way by Eddy:
“Self knowledge, humility and love are divine strength.” p, 358
Of course, all of the qualities listed in Keith’s post, as well as the others fit into the whole of Christian healing.
Loved this thoughtful analysis, thank you!

I am so grateful for this blog. I have been dealing with some tough times lately and everything I read here is so inspiring and uplifting. I am trying to see my true self as a spiritual idea and what I am meant to do. And when I read I feel so inspired it turns me around, changes my thinking and I feel like a veil has been lifted each time. I am getting it. I am seeing the true man in myself and everyone I see and it feels so good. Each day gets better. Thank you so much!
